In 2019, we faced a challenge: a 22-ton, 16-meter steel structure for Dubai Metro that was 6.2 meters tall—too high for the city’s 5.8-meter tunnels.

Laying it flat would exceed the 15-meter length limit, so we used Pythagorean theorem to design an “inclined loading” plan: raise the front by 1.2 meters and lower the rear by 0.5 meters, cutting the height to 5.7 meters. We also adjusted the truck’s tire spacing to keep the load stable.  

We secured a special transport permit from Dubai’s road authority and arranged police escorts to avoid traffic. When the structure passed through the tunnel, the Metro project director said: “You solved our problem with math—impressive!”  

Advice: For oversized cargo, use 3D modeling to test loading angles and coordinate with local authorities early.
