Transporting used equipment is tricky—you need to take it apart without ruining its ability to reassemble.

Last year, we shipped a 170-ton used pile driver (18m long, 3.5m wide) that wouldn’t fit in a 3m-wide bulk carrier hatch. We worked with engineers to:  

1. Split the drill pipe into 3x6m sections.  

2. Break the counterweight into 4×15-ton blocks.  

3. Separate the chassis, tires, and brackets.  

We labeled each of the 12 parts, filmed assembly videos, and sent technicians overseas to guide reassembly. When the pile driver restarted on-site, the client said: “You know this machine better than we do.”  Advice: For used equipment, plan disassembly 3 months early—confirm part sizes, weights, and labeling with engineers and logistics teams.
