Route surveys aren’t “snapping random photos”—in some countries, the wrong shot can lead to trouble.

Last year, our photographer accidentally took a military base photo in a small country—soldiers confiscated the camera and warned: “Next time, detention.” We made 3 rules:  

1. No military facilities (bases, tanks).  

2. No sensitive buildings (embassies, presidential palaces).  

3. No photos of locals (especially women/children) without permission.  

Another time in Southeast Asia, we stopped our driver from photographing an embassy—local law fines for that.  

Advice: Before surveys, learn local photography rules. Work with logistics providers who “know local laws” to avoid legal risks.
