With the widespread use of the internet, hacker scams have emerged in the international freight forwarding industry.

Hackers use various techniques to hack into the email accounts of freight forwarders or their clients and create fake email addresses that are very similar to the real ones. These fake addresses often differ by only one letter or number, making them difficult to detect. For example, they might change “abctrading.com” to “[invalid URL removed]”.

Then, they use these fake addresses to send emails, such as changing the receiving account or urging payment, to trick freight forwarders into transferring funds to their designated accounts.

To avoid falling victim to this scam, freight forwarders should carefully check the sender’s address in any email received and only proceed after confirming it is correct. If there are any doubts, immediately contact the other party through phone calls or other reliable methods for confirmation and never readily trust email content.
